I'm thinking of modeling a Rex for my game modeling class' final.
1) My lack of skill cause I'm not pro modeler and it's just hobby
2) Lack of blueprint materials so it becomes much harder to achieve proper shapes
So what did I do:
1) Found a papercraft model of Rex and used it as a proportion reference. Just to feel overall sizes etc. Please note that Rex's head from papercraft pretty much differs from Rex in MGS4.
2) Downloaded a MGS4 cut-scenes recorded to a video files (u can easy find it on torrents) and look for a ACT IV where Snake found damaged Rex in hangar of Alaska. I made shots of it.
3) I also find some photos of metal Rex model which can be found in google by "3A Toys Metal Gear Rex"
So I used those materials as blueprints (even in perspective view which is hard to do right). After I've finished Rex I thought I never ever gonna model something I don't have proper reference for. But sometime ago I was crazy enough again and modeled a Gekko robot. And that was really pain in a$$.
Hope this info helps you
I did look up some stuff and indeed found little/no blueprint type references lol
But If you did it then I'm sure I could too!
